Gaza: On Narcissistic Victimhood

Ghassan Hage is a professor at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on racism and multi-culturalism in Australia and the Middle East. His books include White Nation: Fantasies of White supremacy in a Multicultural Society, and Against Paranoid Nationalism: searching for hope in a shrinking society. In this lecture, he analyzes the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the processes that maintain the crisis in the limits of the nation-state.

“For me Gaza is a permanent state of criminality… It’s not what happens in Gaza. It is not the invasion of Gaza, it is not an event in Gaza. Gaza itself is a permanent state of criminality.”
